Lorin Shapiro, MFT

Lorin Shapiro is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in Couples Work, Relationship Issues, and Sexual Addiction.  She received a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and her Master of Arts from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology,  a Higher Learning Commission accredited program renown for clinical training.  Her graduate studies focused on psychodynamic psychotherapy,  conjoint therapy,  family systems,  and addiction.

After earning her masters,  Lorin went on to receive advanced training in psychoanalytic theories and psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills,  where she completed a three year traineeship. As a trainee at the Maple Counseling Center,  she gained specialized training in working with couples,  individuals,  groups and intake and assessment.  While at the Maple Center,  she led an interpersonal process group for women and she worked as the school therapist for the American Film Institute in Hollywood, CA.  Following her traineeship,  she continued to work under the supervision of Dr. Ann Wexler.  After becoming fully licensed,  Lorin opened a private practice in Beverly Hills and began working as a clinician at The Institute for Sexual Health under the mentorship of Dr. Omar Minawalla,  Psy. D.,  and Trish Haight,  MFT.  At ISH,  Lorin has received advanced training in the Sex Addiction-Induced Trauma model and it is there that she works predominantly with Partners of Sex Addicts.  In addition, she is a certified Specialist in Problematic Sexual Behavior (S-PSB), she has received a certificate of training in Sexual Attitude Re-Assessment and Re-Structuring (SAR), and she is  working towards licensure as a Somatic Experiencing Practioner (SEP).  She works with a range of issues in the field of sexuality.

At ISH, Lorin brings her passion for creating a safe, accepting, exploratory environment in which clients have the opportunity to connect more deeply with themselves, thus leading them to more fulfilling lives and healthier relationships.

Currently,  she devotes her time to her private practice in Beverly Hills,  where she works with individuals, couples and families and to working at ISH.
